Making a commitment to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior is a simple thing but will change your life forever. Making this commitment ensures that you will be with Jesus for eternity in heaven.

1.  Admit that you are a sinner and that there is nothing that you can do in your own power to please God.

 

. . . for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God . . . -- Romans 3:23 (ESV)

 

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. -- Isaiah 64:6 (KJV)

 

2.  Acknowledge that Jesus Christ paid the price for your sin for all time by dying on the cross. He then conquered death by rising again.

 

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.            -- Romans 10:9-10

 

God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. -- Romans 5:8

 

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, . . . -- I Corinthians 15:3-4 (ESV)

3.  Ask God to give you the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

 

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. -- Ephesians 2:8-9 (ESV)

 

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. -- Romans 6:23

Simply pray a prayer like this (you can put it in your own words):

 

Heavenly Father, I confess that I am a sinner and that I cannot reach you through my own efforts. I ask for your forgiveness for my sins. I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for my sins. I believe that He then rose from the grave to conquer death for everyone who believes in Him and calls on His name. I accept your gift of salvation. In Jesus name, Amen
